No Sweets

Vegetarian: Day 34

Breakfast: Iced coffee and a muffin.  Not healthy.  I should give up sweets.  New blog?

(I will not be writing a new blog, but I will mention that I have not enjoyed "sweets" since October 1, 2011.  Fairly impressive for a former sweet tooth.  I have become healthier as a result of removing "sweets" (as much added sugar as reasonably possible) from my diet - I have managed to lose weight and keep it off, with a big shout-out to weight lifting.  Strength training is key to a good lifestyle, because nobody wants to be a skinny weakling.  Say that in an Ah-nold voice.  Strength training - get in the choppa!

Anyways, I gave up sweets, apparently I predicted the future.  Or...I just didn't want to get diabetes.

Shout to my 2-3 readers - what up dawgs.

TMI: Matt vs. Cold Cuts - 0 for 2

Had a roast beef sub at Quiznos...not a good choice...

Ate a lot of other meat this weekend and felt alright.  I paced myself, but I'm left wondering...why are cold cuts destroying me (TMI) but the other meats, when eaten in moderation and slowly, were okay?  And who am I kidding, I didn't really moderate on meat this weekend.

I am at a crossroads right now, wondering whether a vegetarian diet really is the right one for me.

Subway - My stomach hurts

So I had a turkey sub from Subway tonight - wheat bread, cheddar cheese, lettuce tomato green peppers and cucumbers...a little black pepper...and some sliced deli turkey.

Not a fun experience for the next hour or so.  My body did not really like the sandwich.  Now there could be several factors.  The first thing I thought was "How long do they just leave the turkey chillin out there"

Either way, I have been easing my way back into meat eating and it's not going that well...

Day 50

It's been 7 weeks.  I ate meat for the first time last night in 7 weeks, a very small amount of plain grilled chicken, and it was my least favorite part of the meal.  I went to the pizza place today with the intention of trying some ham and pineapple pizza, but some jack wagon took the last slice, so I got 2 slices of cheese.

I'm not sure where this blog will take me, or if I will just stop writing in it altogether.  But for now I am going to leave it open, to whatever it may entail.  I did go through the entire 46 days of Lent without eating meat once, not even by accident.  I consider it an accomplishment and I truly considered it to be a sacrifice.

Vegan Bacon

Thanks to Matt M. for the hook up on this one.

Bacon Explosion

What...the fudge.

So I may be easing my way towards eating meat again, but I don't think this is the path to righteousness.

It does look incredible, and apparently it is filled with sausage and bbq sauce, and then covered in more bbq sauce.  The secret to the Bacon Explosion: the 5x5 bacon weave:

Now that's how you blog entry, ladies and gentlemen.  Would something like this make you vegetarian forever?  Or would you cross the bridge through the fiery pits of Hell into a warm comforting blanket knitted with bacon?

Avoiding the Inevitable (Stomach Fiasco)

So I've been vegetarian for 46, well actually 47 days if you include Easter Sunday.  I'm kind of afraid to eat meat again, due to confirmations that my stomach will go through hell if and when I eat meat again.  My aunt told me that she accidentally ate meat from a restaurant and the following events were not pretty.

What a great Easter Sunday though, I am truly blessed to have the wacky family I have.  I used to think my family was really "normal", when in actuality, they are a little crazy.  But we're all a little crazy in a good way and we're a family.  I think I am even making it sound crazier than it actually is.  My family isn't crazy, they're hilarious.  I think of families that have real life problems going on and I feel bad and I wish them the best.

Okay enough of that tangent, it's Monday, the day after Easter and I still haven't eaten meat yet.
